Hi I'm Todd Watson, an Independent candidate running for United States Senate.

Our party platform has three key philosophies compared to a traditional campaign agenda. First, we believe that the party system in Washington is broken. Second, we believe in a foundational return to the spiritual heritage of our country. Third, we believe it is time government act selfless and not selfish with the future of this country.

We have great passion to be part of a larger movement under God of real change in this country. Enjoy the site and let’s MOVE! Learn why all individuals who interviewed Todd of the York County GOP leadership committee endorsed Todd Watson for US Senate.

This site is designed to give you the information you need quickly while yet thorough enough to move the dialogue of the debate to “How” from “What”. “Todd’s Stances” has quick positional stances (read the bold if you have no time). Second, we have three Philosophies with quick excerpts to learn more about our beliefs. Finally, we thoroughly blog on any given topic to give those passionate about a subject details they can depend on. The details in these blogs gives you a roadmap to solving problems and details on specific views. You will rarely find disclosure of this level of detail as well as belief structures. Campaigns want to be general to appeal to the most voters. We fundamentally believe in giving specific guidance to move the debate forward and show we are serious about solving problems–not being popular.

Thanks for your support!

Would You Sign the Declaration of Independence?

5 Observations of America’s Declaration of Independence

  1. You are outmatched in resources (financial, military, and political organization) by the Ruling bodies but you Declare Independence anyway.
  2. You reject the establishment ruling body and seek to take ruling authority directly back to the people.
  3. Although you believe in being independent from the current ruling authorities you recognize your unalienable rights were endowed by your creator and not of your own doing.  (Independent but Submissive)
  4. You close your Declaration by stating you have a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence (not the size of your army or war chest).
  5. You mutually pledge to each other your lives, fortunes and sacred honor.

I challenge every American — Would you sign the Declaration today?

One, will you declare yourself Independent of the current ruling bodies that 87% disapprove of?  Remember registering and declaring (voting) are two different things.  You have to tell the whole world you disapprove and formally reject their leadership. Personal public acceptance of a new option is what holds people back—not registering.  People were unhappy with English rule for some time.  It took declaring AND taking action to make a change.

Second, you don’t try to create a new ruling party once you overthrow the existing ruling bodies.  You realize government belongs to the consent of the people and not the consent of a ruling party or parties.

Three, you acknowledge there is a Creator. You did not give yourself inalienable rights—the Creator did.  Recognizing there is a higher power other than yourself can be hard for many people.

Four, you declare your protection is from Divine Providence (not armies, money, or political organization that outmatch your force by a large margin).  Got faith?

Finally, you bury your selfish pursuits and pledge your life, fortune, and honor for the sake of freedom.  Would you give up your life, fortune, and honor for the Independence of others?  Many have done that for us!

Can you pass all 5 tests?

Would you sign the Declaration of Independence?  It is not too late…….

Citizens from 85 out of the 93 Counties Have Signed!

When we started our petition drive at the end of 2013 we needed volunteers and help. As many of you know, we announced we obtained the 4,000+ signatures with qualifying district requirements in early May. We presented those signatures today to Don Walton of the Lincoln Journal Star to attest to the validity of the petition. We will continue to seek a cushion to our ballot (more signatures) around the state before the deadline to ensure the best possible safety margin of our submission. We are still humbled by the show of support from citizens around the state. Our signatures to date speak for themselves:

  • Our signatures were not collected by paid gatherers. “At Will” volunteers and myself collected all 4, 000+ signatures.  There is a big difference in people believing in the message versus paying others to gather signatures.  Money will not buy our vote nor our signatures. This petition alone is a “Will of the People” statement.
  • Citizens from 85 of the 93 counties are currently represented in the petition. This is a broad based statement by the state.
  • Free from party and free from the money is a bigger idea then the parties realize. We just need people to come out of the closet and speak.  Those of us not a die-hard member of these parties or a fan of the current political system are suffering from this political civil war. Unfortunately, apathy maybe the downfall of this country.  People not engaged will reap what they sow.  We need every day Americans to put their voices to work and wrestle this government back to the people from these misguided NATIONAL parties.
  • Our supporters believe government representatives should report directly to Nebraskans and not the party and their bank rolling interests. Our Constitution was set up to protect and promote “The People” — not corporate or government entities.
  • This state is definitely conservative but has lost faith in the Republican Party to actually “propose” as oppose to “support” anything substantial relating to reduced spending in Washington. People are waking up to the fact significant “cuts” are preached but rarely enacted by the Republican Party. Spending less than the Democrats isn’t a very powerful statement. No decreases in federal outlays (exceptions under Obama) since ’65 is a factual condemnation of both parties.
  • Nebraskans believe in “Equality Under the Law”.  Congress and Big Business paying campaign donations should play by the same set of rules as everyone else.
  • American markets must be free and fair.  The American business climate must be free from bias, encourage competition, eliminate special interest capitalism, and liberate honest American business from over regulation.

Independents who look at facts not hype understand our Senate must be stronger. Bush and Obama unconstitutionally spying on American citizens is wrong.  We need to engage a debate between national security and data collection/spying on American citizens. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights is being walked on and we need a proper dialogue to ensure National Security AND the Liberty of American citizens.   We may need a Constitutional adjustment to give certain rights to the government to protect our National Security but this option must be presented to the American people by our government.  We must make government actions consistent with the rule of law.  The government or the law must change.

Independents know Republicans cover up lies in the Bush administration of a nuclear presence in Iraq as a cause to go to war. Independents know that Obama has covered up an American tragedy in Benghazi with new legal rights granted to Bush.  Both party Presidential Administrations have misled the country with incorrect information in International conflicts.

Independents know that both parties have failed our people with each administration having scandals in the VA that under served our Veterans.   Veterans dying under the Obama Administration’s watch and Republicans turning their back on funding our Veterans are both to blame.  We need an Independent to fight for Veteran’s interests in D.C.

I believe many people of faith are stuck.  We know that Bush professed that many of the major faiths pray to the same God (Most faiths don’t believe this–PS– I respect Bush’s rights to have this belief and my right to differ).  People of faith know the government under Obama is forcing people to pay for and provide health care services that violate their conscious. Many people of faith know leadership on issues of faith are lost on both sides of the aisle.

Independent fans of the Constitution know education belongs to the state and locales and not the Federal government. Bush supported adopting UN standards in education (a slippery slope to Common Core). The Obama administration has expanded government oversight of education. Both the adoption of UN standards and the expansion of the Department of Education is poor Constitutional leadership by both parties.  Education should be a local issue with parents and local citizens having the say.

When is the legislative leadership of both parties willing to check the Executive and Judicial branches?  We need Independents blind to party power to uphold our Constitution!  We cannot afford a majority of the legislative body to look past unconstitutional actions by allied party Presidents.

Independents factually realize that both parties are responsible for this fiscal disaster.  Our deficit under the Obama administration is a new paradigm in debt spending.  Unfortunately it is being built on top of an already poor 11 figure national debt created by BOTH PARTIES.  I’m upset with the current administration too but can factually identify this Republican Party has its share of the blame.

More importantly, I believe we as Nebraskans must move on from both these parties and paint a new positive vision of this country based on the historical framework of the Constitution and get back to setting up a structure for all Americans to pursue happiness. We must focus on “promoting the general welfare” of all Americans and avoid providing for fractional groups on both sides of the aisle. “Promoting the General Welfare” should have very little to do with new programs and should be spear headed with budget cuts so that we ensure “the Blessings of Liberty for Ourselves AND our Posterity!” as called for in the Constitution.

Friends, there is a lot of work to be done. We are going to make appearances around the state now that the heavier work of qualifying for the general election is over (we still need more signatures for cushion–don’t let up!).  I’m still plenty occupied with running my 2 businesses and raising 4 kids. However, this is a level of sacrifice and time we are willing to give. Our grandfathers’ generation did the same to ensure liberty for future generations. 80 hour weeks are the norm. Can you not give 1 hour to consider the material? Can you give $5, $10, $20, $100 to support our travels? Can you give a call to 10 friends to consider sharing the material?

Please invite us to your town, club, organization, or institution to speak. This campaign is not a radical idea (well maybe not –we are not spending millions and we still work a normal job during the campaign). We are trying to return this country to the roots of the Constitution. We want to return the seat in Washington directly back to the people of Nebraska with no party and special interest influence. Remember our forefathers’ advice and heed their warnings against a party system.

Over 4,000 people have signed with little to no media coverage. Most of Nebraska still does not know we exist. The media is still covering traditional candidates of a party system that own an 87% disapproval rating (and buys millions in ads). 4,000+ signatures on a grass roots basis have heard and answered the call. Respect their wisdom and listen. 4,000+ people would like a new message to be heard and we have not even scratched the surface across Nebraska.

Our founders never meant for control of our government to be in the hands of two powerful bodies. This government was always meant to be in the hands of the people. Democracy needs independent voices to thrive! We need your support today!

Looking forward to seeing you on the campaign trail–All the Best!

Veterans Should Be Fleeing to the Polls and Voting Independent….

Being against Government run health care for our Non-Veteran citizens is not political with me. It has to do with promoting the general welfare and giving our citizens a non special interest manipulated market run health care solution. This is our best option. Our government is not currently taking care of all those who defended our freedom (watch video by CBS – thank you CBS for being a national news chain willing to cover the truth). How in the world do individuals think our government can take care of more citizens when Veterans are dying from neglect and failure of government oversight already?

(Quick disclaimer – I do want to recognize great service from many Doctors and Nurses doing a great job at the VA. Poor work by some should not be a reflection on all.)

Running to the GOP from the President isn’t good either if you are a Veteran. Watch the next video in the next post. Ben Sasse is endorsed by Representative Paul Ryan whose original budget proposed in 2013 cut Veteran benefits by 1%. On election-day Ben vowed to be a “Team Player” (that must of been a nice surprise to Tea Party followers) with Senator Mitch McConnell. Ben said he would “Absolutely” support Senator McConnell if elected leader of the GOP party in the Senate. Senator McConnell’s leadership record of the GOP with Veterans is terrible.

(Watch the video on the next post if you think being a “Team Player” with Senator McConnell and an endorsement by Paul Ryan who cut Veteran benefits in his budget is a good promise for those who served our country in war.)

Veterans are facing a no win situation unless they go with an Independent Senate candidate like myself. We are tough on the budget, stand against Government run healthcare and stand against Republican special interest manipulated healthcare plans.

We must take care of our Veterans who have served.  The VA must be funded so our Veterans obtain the appropriate treatment for medical issues caused by injuries sustained defending our freedom. Learn more about my campaign at WatsonforSenate.com and invite me to your town in Nebraska to learn more.

This next video provides balance to the Party argument.  You can throw both parties out the window with their record on Veterans (and the NSA, IRS, Tax Reform, Budget, etc….) as far as I’m concerned.  This will come down to the voter choosing a new path free from these failed parties to create real change.

Europe, Russia, Iran, the US and Natural Gas

What country would you like to see Europe send their money to for Natural Gas?

If your first guess was Russia or Iran you maybe happy with this article.

If your first guess was America you can read on.

This article is one more reason we need to get on the ball and start capturing the energy potential in North America.  Russia has imperialistic desires and we do not want to empower Iran with more funds.  Although I think this story is premature to be considered a crisis.  I do think this should be a warning shot to Americans to seize the day with the amazing opportunities energy presents to this country (full disclosure I take zero money from oil and gas interests–this is my own opinion).  We must continue to harvest our own energy for independence of this country and the independence of our allies.  National security and independence is a dominant value that drives my energy positions.
