Senator Fischer and Sasse Approve Purchase of 8 Fighter Jets for Pakistan

Would you the American taxpayer buy ‘8’ F-16’s for Pakistan? Senator Sasse and Fischer thought it was a good idea for you to buy Pakistan EIGHT jets. They defeated Senator Paul’s (R-KY) resolution to stop the purchase (I have attached his speech below ‪#‎standwithrand‬)

Pakistan is the government that armed, aided, and abetted the Taliban that has been killing our soldiers. Furthermore, Pakistan, an Islamic country, sheltered Osama Bin Laden one mile away from Pakistan’s military training base for over decade to help Osama avoid capture!!!!

It gets more concerning….

General John F Campbell (Stationed in Afghanistan) testified to Congress that Pakistan’s Haqqani Terrorist Network (mixed into the power of the Pakistan Government) is considered the most capable threat to US forces in Afghanistan. Senator Bob Corker also expressed hesitation on the funds to Secretary of State Kerry for Pakistan due to their “Insufficiency in targeting militant groups hostile to the United States.”

These are legitimate concerns! Yet, the purchase was pushed through and our Senators were part of the vote.

What is this vote really?

Answer: Another chapter in interventionist foreign policy.
Answer: Another episode of making the sale for the large military complex donors of their campaigns.

For the sake of argument, let’s say this purchase is a good idea for National Security…Pakistan already has 70 F-16’s! Why do we need to pay for an additional 8 F-16’s out of our Treasury that has no money???

We are $19 trillion in the hole and we send new money we borrow from the Chinese to a group of people who ACTIVELY PERSECUTE CHRISTIANS TO DEATH!

To make it worse, our actions are severely upsetting the second largest populated country in the world–India. India or Pakistan? Hmmmm.

This follows up the Obama’s Syrian decision I was on the record against and the Republicans (including Fischer) were on the record to support. Syrian policy gave arms to our enemies and recruited less than 100 people to fight for us (that withered down to less than 10). What really happened is the arms we purchased ended up in the hands of the enemy (we repeat this mistake in history over and over). You can read the full Syrian blog on on October 16, 2015 to get the full spectacle of horrendous decision making over Syria by Obama and the approving Republicans.

Most conservatives agree Obama’s foreign policy is bad. However, they continue to support it! I have not!

I’m not sure my fellow Nebraskans know what is going on at the donor level. They are still blinded by speeches. This is another bad decision with heavy donor interest at stake for the GOP (Defense Contractors). At best, this is a poor fiscal decision with beneficial national security implications if we trust the Pakistanis now. At worst, this is a horrendous diplomatic, fiscal, and national security decision that could come back and hurt our allies and worse yet our soldiers. I find it hard to view this as a positive decision—especially considering Pakistan’s recent past.

Keep your eyes open Nebraska. It is all happening right in front of you (especially the secret society establishment meeting last week by Sasse I wrote about in my last blog). The Presidential talk can distract you to shady deals going on. Stay focused to active legislation!

Kingmakers – The Exposed Secret Meeting of the Establishment WITH Sasse

Phyllis Schlafly: Kingmakers Don’t Even Change Location Let Alone Plans for the Nation

If you are a conservative and don’t know Phyllis Schlafly…you are not conservative. Phyllis has a long history of taking on the Establishment. What is her term for Establishment?

Senator Sasse was at the latest meeting of “Kingmakers” despite this continuous “I’m Anti-Establishment” lie to keep up an image in populous conservative circles.

The Bilderbergs and other establishment groups plan much of what happens in the world through coordinated media, diplomatic, and multi-national company efforts. One of the major outcomes of their actions is the undermining of American Sovereignty to advance Globalism (“One World” tendencies). Please watch some YouTube videos on the Bilderberg group. Maybe you will start to understand why Sasse got unlimited coverage and why censorship by the Omaha World Herald against true Constitutional recovery campaigns like mine is very real. As you can see by the gathering of this group, the media (especially larger outlets that the smaller outlets just reprint) and diplomats work together to achieve a common agenda.  Our Founding Fathers wanted to see this coordination between press and politicians.

We have a press and country.  I’m still fighting for the adjective of “Free”.

Constitutional and Unconstitutional Positions

Many in my circles love Senator Sasse and his rising fame. Many people like his romantic Constitutional speeches (he is smooth).  However, most are uneducated to the Constitution and actual actions that were taken by our Founding Fathers. They lack an understanding of the laws he advocates for that are NOT Constitutional (FAST Track/TPP) or against Founding Father Constitutional Philosophy; Interventionism and Free Trade.  Until you know the original document and actions you cannot identify Constitutional fallacies of candidates that blend Original Constitutional thought (good) with Modern Interpretive Constitutional Philosophy (rarely Constitutional and bad).

Many citizens will ignore or remain ignorant of these issues because people like to follow “Popular Winners” or have made dangerous assumptions (like Free Trade is Constitutional).  I call them Constitutional golfers.  They pick up 10 foot putts and call them good.  They have to go the extra mile and understand what the Founders actually did. (Hint: they had tariffs)

There is nothing wrong with winning, being popular or successful. However, you can’t forget who you serve and you cannot fail to defend 100% of the Constitution as the oath of office calls for.  The later often conflicts with the former.  That is the case with the trade treaties.  It is the American problem.  Our population is so addicted to money that they will sacrifice a document that protects them for the long term for short term economic (or political) gain.  It is sad.  Low cost consumer products does not always equate to Constitutional advancement.  We have a document defined for the benefit of select lands and people.

Make no mistake, Sasse serving these groups who operate by secretive meeting will not serve we the people. I will ask the follow up question no one else will.  Does anyone want to ask why he is meeting the CEO of Apple who is openly leading the fight against a judicial order on “Other Business”?  That is probably the most bothersome piece to many conservatives that study the connections of who is there if you read the full story.  I’m not even going to go there in this piece.

Sasse was tapped as a future leader by these select groups (I’d bet big on it).  His historical lineage from the key Ivy league memberships to the Presidential appointment tells an astute historical observer of government a trajectory trend a given person is on based on the historical establishment tree. The history of others on that family tree is what makes this scary for the people. We need George Washington to cut that tree down.  The Bush legacy was one root that we successfully removed this year.  The Clintons are next.

You will continue to see coverage of his “Good” things and little to no coverage of votes like TPP/Fast Track that does not match his public image he has created (“Their” money interest vs. “Constitutional Interest”). It is the big legislation that TPP/Fast Track achieves for the ruling elites that has to be voted FOR that may go against the rhetoric that was preached and soothed the masses.  That is how the game is played in Big Stakes Washington.  Many of us are trying to change the game and get this government back to the people where violating the Constitution isn’t up for debate and democracy and dialogue can settle the differences inside the lines.  You have to listen to genuineness and run from scripted speeches.

The Establishment Cringing and Their Future Plans

I’m sure the establishment is cringing that this secret meeting was discovered and published by REAL journalists.  These are the patriot journalists that are so hard to find these days (look at Ben Swann as another ‘pen patriot’).  They dig for truth.

I think Senator Sasse will be running for President the next 4 to 12 years based on his inclusion in this group.  My guess would be sooner rather than later when you see a man with a poor track record like Rubio flash on the scene and become a rising Presidential candidate with no substantive legislative accomplishments, broken political promises, and a poor attendance record.  Sasse can run a mile around Rubio’s record in a year if he wanted or is allowed to.  However, credit Rubio.  He said he was wrong this week in his conduct.  Rarely will you see an establishment member apologize.  I commend him for that.  That is character.  Trump could learn from this.

All is not bad with Sasse or Rubio. We are united in a fight against poor Iranian diplomatic efforts, united in advancing religious liberty, promote pro-life, “Speak to” less government regulation (I’d act), and many more common conservative goals.

Constitutional Courage Needed

However, there is a HUGE difference in true Constitutional courage between us. I do not support these trade treaties or Fast Track (similar to the newly awakened Cruz on the issue). I was one of the first conservatives to go on the record on this in 2014 and will not back down like Trump.  There is no Constitutional defense to this treaty. Like the Iran Deal it was cut behind closed doors by an out of control President and usurps the authority of the people and their sovereignty maintained by Congressional review.

Outside of TPP/Fast Track there are few MAJOR pieces of legislation he has been a part of to develop a record either way.  The lack of a border security bill to come out of his committee should be an alarm bell for any normal conservative who thought he would be a leader on uniting the party and securing the border.  A person who cannot bring consensus IN HIS OWN PARTY on a border bill is problematic (those big corporate donors looking for cheap labor makes that bill hard to produce).

I will present to you in the near future two VERY IMPORTANT additional Constitutional topics we are different on: Interventionism and Free Trade (upcoming videos).  Our Constitutional guidance and founding fathers demonstrated a different approach to interventionism and free trade then establishment politicians of both parties.  Interventionism and Free Trade are the largest differences between conservative non-Republicans and conservative Republicans.   Foreign policy took a dangerous Constitutional shift from Washington/Adams to Roosevelt/Wilson.  Trade was historically tariff based until Republicans switched tunes in the early 1930’s.  The early 1900’s was horrendous for the Constitution and the beginning of our Constitutional downfall.

As far as Establishment aspirations for President, Hillary winning or losing will have a big impact on the vitality of a third option that is being floated by the Kingmakers.  I think a third option will be guaranteed if both Trump and Sanders win as the current voices of power will have no controlled horse in the race. I suspect a strong push for Hillary if she wins her primary by the powers at be.

Hillary has long been an interventionist and free trader for the benefit of multi-national companies. This is why you can hear some crazed Republicans actually supporting Hillary over Trump (loyalty to “The Club”). These are the mutual values that current leaders of both parties usually have.

How to Approach Candidates

I look at the governmental actions (if they exist), political money, and political speeches of our officials in that order.  The population tends to work in reverse. They listen to the speeches of candidates through controlled media.  They rarely know the political money behind the voice and cannot recall any noteworthy legislative actions.  My job is to help you change.  We need to be a smarter electorate to the money and substantive actions.  Remember when your coach told you to watch the torso and pay no attention to the head fakes (if you played basketball)?  It is similar in politics.  Watch the actions and avoid the high profile speeches to understand where they are really going.

Tip 1:  Read The Hill, Washington Examiner or Politico.  These outlets keep you informed (not always free of bias).  Avoid the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal with outright political agendas

Tip 2: Got to and ‘vet’ your candidates money

Tip 3: Look at the donor lists and see what social causes they support.  Planned Parenthood support will tell you a lot about donors and controlling conservative candidates

Establishment Rule

The basic rule of the Establishment is this: You are allowed to preach whatever it takes to get elected but votes on key legislation they need will match their will (you can have a few non dissents if there is margin in the vote to keep your base).  If you want to have access to the money/media/corporate machine that really controls power, these appears to be the rules based on the extensive reading I have done.

They allow significant fighting on issues that don’t affect the money.  Your candidate may talk pro-life until they are blue…just ask if they help on legislation for their donor list who already directly pays Planned Parenthood (Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Goldman Sachs).  You either compromise your conscious and make a deal or you have to make it big on your own and fund your own way to make real change.

‘This’ is where we say the actions are controlled. One major reason I had to leave the GOP and be Independent were around principles of Constitutional Non-Free International Trade, Constitutional Non-Interventionism, Unconstitutional Currency Control, and Disagreement with Donors and their agenda.  Fighting for True Liberty for We the People is liberating and frustrating at the same time.

The Quiet(er) Revolution You Are Witnessing

We are in a battle to save capitalism and American sovereignty as we speak.  Rigged and Controlled capitalism is a big ingredient to creating a push for socialism.  Globalist pursuits are destroying our self-will for our population. We need strong DOMESTIC centered capitalism to benefit We the People that is not controlled thru currency domination, government regulation, and fighting for those on top of the pyramid around the world.  International trade can still flourish.  Tariffs can be low.  However, our policy should be based on a strong employment and wage rates created by markets and not the DJIA level.  Working for the establishment is a vote for a centrally controlled and organized society that can’t jeopardize the position of the powerful.  This is not American liberty.  Where the revolution gets divided is many of us are pulling for the original Constitution and actions in their entirety.  The other part of the revolution is looking for socialism.  This is why it is imperative for Establishment followers to insist on a clean-up of our system and throwing those out of power tied to the corrupted system.  There is no faith in the compromised (Why I took ZERO corporate money) to move this country forward for the Constitution.

(See my past posts if you have not figured out the corruption.  It is in the design our monetary and tax policy)

Furthermore, our national debt is at a crisis level (I’m afraid we may have already gone too far). We cannot afford an interventionist foreign policy that leads to wars that advances very little of our Constitutional mission and jeopardizes our Republic by adding to already unsustainable debt levels.  Long drawn out periods of war have been the downfall of great civilizations since the beginning of time.  We need to study history and control our aggression.

We have seen most anyone and everyone in the Nebraska GOP party leadership get behind Rubio. He is the Establishment choice after Jeb was taken out early by true “Anti-Establishment” voices.  The money quickly moved to Rubio and we responded.  The movement succeeded.  Rubio has gone nowhere despite all the endorsements, the politician stump speeches, the ads, and the media singing his praises.  The movement is strong.

Those of us who do not add to the “Globalist and Establishment” base of the NEGOP base are shunned away from political advancement in this state.  The best way to get on stage and speak these ideas was Independent and not GOP.  That is what I did.  That is why the stage was held hostage by the media and Senator Sasse in the general.  (I assumed you noticed little to no difference on platforms between the GOP candidates in the primary?)

My proudest achievement in ’14 was to be called the clear Constitutional candidate after our only televised debate (that most of you have not seen) and then watch the deemed ‘Constitutional Senator’ duck the next 10 debates because he was out debated.

My satisfaction came from delivering the speeches I assured my volunteers I would give in the name of Constitutional conservatism and giving ALL Nebraskans my respect and my ear. We can do better!

What the Nebraska GOP Needs to Realize

Unfortunately, Republican Nebraska remains behind the dramatically changing national conservative scene.  However, I am seeing progress.  I love getting the emails that say, “I see it now!”.  Those make my day.  The numbers of people Constitutionally “Getting it” are growing!  (write me at todd@watsonforsenate with your story)

For the majority of NEGOP loyalists, they have not seen the agenda of the money behind Rubio as the rest of the country has.  Most were wowed with a great speech.  The majority of the country (including Florida) has moved past his speeches and looked at his track record and monetary donations.  This is what Nebraska should be doing.  I hope to continue to evolve my state in understanding the world agenda of many of their donors and why Constitutional recovery will only occur when these donors lose power and don’t select/control the appointed voices to run the country for their benefit.

It is key I continue to educate people on the Establishment and their followers who have developed deep globalist/interventionist beliefs.  These beliefs are based on decades of action and teachings that have been funded and pushed by Kingmakers through education and propaganda (often the same). Study the founding fathers and you will change your deep held beliefs.  You have to trust the thinking of our Founders over civil beliefs you have been ingrained with.

These incorrect belief systems shrink the liberty of all Americans. Worse yet, they cost American lives in our military without advancing Constitutional Security or American Liberty.  Blood will always have to be spilled to protect freedom.  We are all grateful that some are called to take that risk for us.  However, they should only be called upon when the threat to our Constitutional mission is in jeopardy. (Hint: It is not in Jeopardy Defending International Oil Interests).  I must use my gifts and fight for them first.  The Kingmakers have altered foreign policy that has cost American lives.  Ideas have consequences.  Monetary control remaining in Wall Street, intervention in International sovereignty, and failing to protect markets for the benefit our people, and working for donors who simultaneously fund abortion has severe consequences.  Ideas and alliances matter.

In a world of “Identity Politics” the GOP will continue to spin what establishment is and what it isn’t.  Don’t take the bait of definition change offered by both sides.  The money, connections, and background makes this an easy analysis. Results will stay the same with continued obedience to the controlled media and money.  If you still don’t want to listen to me…that is fine.  However, listen to Phyllis.  She is a long time veteran in following the money and seeing 50 years of conservative destruction by the Kingmakers.

Prayer FOR Our Leaders is Still a Command

Please share this post. Keep praying for Senator Sasse and all our government leaders.  I’ve sought out Senator Sasse in person but he has declined my invitation to talk.  I will keep trying.

At the end of the day, we need God’s help to continue to take this country back for how our founders designed it to work best.

The Wisdom of Justice Scalia

“God assumed from the beginning that the wise of the world would view Christians as fools…and he has not been disappointed. Have the courage to have your wisdom regarded as stupidity. Be fools for Christ. And have the courage to suffer the contempt of the sophisticated world.” (So Good)
“The Constitution is not a living organism.” (Amen!)
“Context always matters. Let us not forget, however, why context matters: It is a tool for understanding the terms of the law, not an excuse for rewriting them.” (Why ‘Context’ is included in my twitter handle)
Some of us heard these words from Justice Scalia and took them to heart-
This was the Justice appointed by Anti-Establishment/Reagan who beat out Establishment/Bush in 1980.
John Roberts (Republican appointed by the Establishment Republicans/Bush) upheld Obamacare against the adamant words of Scalia.
Chief Justice Roberts and the majority opinion on Obamacare –
“Individual mandate component of the Act could not be upheld under the Commerce Clause, the mandate could be construed as a tax and was therefore ruled to be valid under Congress’s authority to “lay and collect taxes.”
Most conservatives (including me) will call that horrendous Constitutional reasoning. However, most Republicans do not consider that Obamacare taxation (if it is a tax) started in the Senate. True Constitutional candidates understand a bigger legal problem.
Was the ruling even Constitutional on the grounds of where the legislation originated from if it was a tax (The Senate)? Study where revenue bills are Constitutionally designed to originate.  Ask if we have a “Living” interpretation of where taxation bills originate from.
Bottom line: The ruling and Constitutional framework is bad on so many levels…and Scalia knew it.
Establishment views on justice selection matter! This is a critical appointment. We cannot risk paid for politicians ignorant of the Constitution affirming/making the appointment. We have Constitutional defenders who think authorizing Fast Track for the President is Constitutional. I pray we have some Constitutional wisdom fall upon our Senators and the next President.
In the meantime, thank you Justice Scalia for your service and wisdom to our country. Rest in Peace. Thanks for giving us a remarkable American story.

China and Nebraska Hogs

LB 176 – China and Nebraska Hogs
This is where I break with Republican Conservatives. Do we really think a Chinese company will promote the General Welfare of We the Nebraska Farmer by controlling our Hog Producers for their benefit? I got news for you…Ranchers will be next. How in the world do we think “Chinese Capitalism” will be a “Good Thing” for our Nebraska family farms?
If Republicans think this will enhance the liberty of our farmers/producers/ranchers for themselves or the next generation…they are misguided. You can watch the predicament of the “Tennessee Chicken Producer” with Tyson or what has happened to the “Family Hog Farm” in Iowa to know the fate of what is coming under the direction of a Chinese Multi-National Company.
I’m a capitalist and employ almost 100 people. I’m not one to preach or pass these “Ultra Capitalist” bills to prove I’m business friendly.  I’m comfortable in my capitalistic clothes, but I’m about Americans first.
This bill is a perfect example of why most Nebraska Republicans have no clue on why Trump who talks tough on Ch-Eye-Nah (my Trump impression) has an appeal to many conservatives. This is going to get real for Nebraska….reeeallll quick.
To be fair (PS–they don’t endorse me or I don’t endorse them…I’m just giving my opinion), real conservative leaders like Brasch, Groene, and Schnoor said ‘No’. Other Republicans like Davis and Bloomfield took a stand. Good for them. I have liked what I have seen from a social, civil, conservative and boldness level from Brasch, Groene, and Schnoor (90+% of the time). I will continue to watch their moves. I tend to appreciate their boldness and how they view what is best for Nebraska. They are not afraid to stand for what they think is right and go against the prevailing tide of the majority. Our Rural Way of Life is important to defend. Stay conservative. Ditch these Republicans who put China lobbying dollars in front of a Nebraska way of life.

Why the American Christian Would Not Vote for David or Moses

Why I Believe Christians Would Not Vote for King David or Moses If They Were Alive Today

  1. Introduction
  2. King David
  3. Moses
  4. Insight for America and Conclusion

One of the great internal debates a Christian can have is;

  • Would I have recognized the Messiah in Biblical times while he walked the earth?
  • Would I have believed in his message while he preached real time?’

At a personal level, would I recognize a man not born into the ruling elite as God’s son?  Would I look at a humble carpenter with no formal legal training as God’s chosen one? Would I see a Messiah in a man that had the audacity to reject the money changing tables the spiritual leaders approved of?  These are the questions I have asked myself as a proclaiming Christian.

However, I’d challenge every person of faith to go further. Would we have voted for one of God’s chosen leaders to lead HIS people (If it were up to vote)?

Let’s examine the lives of two great Biblical leaders.  Would we have voted for David or Moses?

King David

King David began his ascent into leadership as a young shepherd boy.  David had a life changing moment early in life.  Saul and the Jewish army were paralyzed with fear against a ruthless fighter/tyrant named Goliath.  David, unlike his brothers and Jewish peers, was not afraid to challenge Goliath. Furthermore, he chose the atypical tools to wage a fight against the most formidable opponent of the day.  He declined the use of armor and the normal weapons to win a battle with his slingshot AND GOD.

Some trust in chariots and some trust in horses.  His people should show a trust in God.  Many forget these spiritual lessons from their youth.

What would we do if we were a witness to the battle between David and Goliath?  Would we follow a young shepherd kid who yielded a slingshot and was not looked at as a leader within his own family?  Would we follow the ruling class and Saul who possessed the great armor, were the dominant forces of leadership, and had the powerful institutions within their control?

Saul, being the victorious ruling party with Goliath’s death, would seek out the death and destruction of David for the benefit of his power.  His jealousy raged against David because he desired to have the adoration of the people.

The situation yields further observations and questions.  Did the average citizen comprehended that David had TWO parties pursuing his life and liberty…Saul AND Goliath?  Did the average citizen (without the prophetic knowledge) have a clue that David was God’s anointed choice to be their next leader?

As history continued to unfold, we would have been presented with more difficult questions to answer. Would we have allowed the persecution of David from the ruling class to be so intense that David had to live with the Philistines (the tribe of Goliath)?  Would we turn our backs on David to be accepted by the majority in control? Would we listen to the judges of the day so burdened with bribes that ‘Biblical Justice’ was outside their grasp?  Would one be a Jonathan and help David survive the “Throwing of Spears” by those in power consumed with retaining popularity, power, and prestige?

After Saul’s death, which divided kingdom would I have supported if I had the choice?  Would I support the old ruling party thru Saul or would I transfer allegiance to David?  Would I really believe in a prolific writer to lead a nation?

Examining the life of David would make the decision to accept David as a leader very difficult.  Would I believe in a man who had 8 wives to be a great leader?  Would I trust a man that had accumulated wealth between $3 and $10 billion by today’s standards as a man that was not greedy?  Could I follow a man that had an affair and conceived a child with a married woman (Bathsheba)?  Could I follow a man who had the husband of Bathsheba AND a loyal servant to David, killed?  Would I recognize that David was a man after God’s own heart with this history?

David would repent of these sins and seek after God.  This is a VERY IMPORTANT ingredient for the progress of David.  However, as an average citizen not close to David, how would I determine David was a man after God’s own heart?  Without direct guidance from God, how would I discern this man was God’s choice to lead His nation?

I am afraid that if I was looking for strong character in an individual to be my leader, I would not have identified David.  I would have followed Saul’s son who came from power, likely provided a similar speech as his father, and pledged allegiance to the historical contextual rulers of the day.  I think I would have been ignorant that David would be God’s choice.  The benefit of hindsight makes this decision obvious.  Analyzing the situation real time would have been difficult if I knew David’s adulterous, murderous, and sinful history.

Would I have recognized Moses as a leader to follow?  Moses grew up in a ruling house (Pharaoh) with great education but little to no influence of his biological dad.  Would I trust a man without the discipline and guidance of a biological father in his teenage years that likely contributed to his violent behavior and temper that prompted him to kill a man?

Could I trust a man that was so uninspiring is his speeches that he had to have his brother deliver his message? Would I stay loyal to a leader when everyone was clamoring for their old comfortable life?  Would I listen to the rationale thoughts of men around me who poked fun at Moses for suggesting a sea could part or that food would miraculously be provided to me in the desert? Would I really believe a guy coming down from the mountain that he had talked to God? Would I accept these “Mountain Laws” for me to follow as I’m surrounded by the majority consumed with affirming sexual sin and/or worshiping the golden calf who were “God’s Chosen People”?

I don’t know if I would trust a man that demonstrated violence in his youth, was by most accounts uninspiring with his tongue, and his primary claim to political fame was standing up to Pharaoh in his court.  If I was Hebrew and heard from my peers that this man killed another, I likely would run from Moses.  I am afraid I would have been ignorant that Moses would be God’s selection for leadership as well.

King David and Moses were chosen to lead God’s people with these characteristics, these shortcomings, and these personal histories.  If you really ponder the lives these men led, I don’t know if any of us “Good People” would have selected them for leadership.  Heck, maybe I would have been foolish and petitioned God to let Aaron lead.  He obviously spoke better than “His Moses Guy”.

In today’s world we play a dangerous game of identity politics.  We look for people that inspire us with their tongue and have lived lives that appear to ‘look like’ our own.  However, Biblical lessons have taught us that God’s leaders are amazingly flawed.  Furthermore, we have seen God’s people led into slavery by inept “Good” leaders.  We have to look no further than the Jewish kingdom who allowed child sacrifice to be practiced inside their own camps.  These historical leaders just sat there and worshiped the same false gods offered by the outside.

Furthermore, If we read our Bible we often learn many leaders that DID NOT follow God were instrumental to Jewish freedom.  We know Xerxes liberated God’s people from slavery.  He worshiped a different god!

Persian, Assyrian, and Babylonian leaders were all orchestrated in God’s plan for HIS nation. We have lost that perspective that “Outsiders” are definitely part of HIS overall orchestrated plan.  Sometimes we should reflect on the current leaders we live under and ask why they are now in power.  The Biblical answer tells us that the leadership that rules over is often placed their by God based on the spiritual condition of his leaders/people. Unfortunately, we have a religious electorate content with yelling at others shortcomings as opposed to an internal evaluation of their conduct (or lack thereof) and heart to improve the situation.

If God elected those behaving like him to lead, he would elect nobody.  Yet many feel obliged to judge others and declare specific individuals are unfit to lead due to personality flaws that are unlike their own (I’ve been guilty as well).  We have a tendency to be a self-righteous people (History Repeats).

I think it is easy to look in hindsight with the benefit of a perfect manual on whose God’s chosen leaders were.  People of God celebrate King David and Moses every day. Yet, I’m confident both King David and Moses would not be the first choice of today’s “God” voter.  Adultery, killing, etc.  Forget about even entering the election.

The difficult part is recognizing flawed men with favor from God to lead.  I remember living in Chicago and seeing the “Great Republican and Christian Leader” (Speaker Hastert) having his name on the Wheaton Business School. Oops..that guy was guilty of child molestation and cover-up!  Even experienced Christian leaders (Wheaton is loaded with “These” people) often judge the character of men wrong after a life-long pursuit of pursuing God.  By the way, Speaker Hastert is still loved by God.  Like David, he will still have to pay a price for his sin.

Christians tend to focus on historical character, speech, and political identification that is widely known and on “Public” display.  God primarily uses a different tool.  He examines the current condition of the heart. God rarely uses the “Obvious” person based on human logic.  He often uses the flawed and weak who have returned to seek God.

People will vote for popular and garner death in the desert.  This is a historical Biblical fact.  Select individuals often discern to vote for what is right, lose the vote, and live to see the Promised Land.  I challenge your heart to discern if you would vote ‘right’ or ‘win’.  I would challenge the Christian that claims Joshua and Caleb failed in their stewardship because they lost the vote (the common argument I have heard against this rationale).

I don’t think the vote of average men has changed much since Biblical times.  The obsession with “Win” continues and is reaffirmed by the political figures and media they follow.  In fact, the media presenting who is “likely to win” is used as powerful perception tool by the media against the believer.

At a personal observation level, wandering in the desert seems like our plight the last 40 years.  “One Nation Under God” just hit 19 trillion in debt!  I would challenge Americans to return to courageous votes that are ‘right’.  These courageous votes and signatures are well represented in the Declaration of Independence.

Greatness may lie in people with shortcomings from a “Religious” world standard but have demonstrated a strong current condition of the heart to serve. I’m not too interested in ‘how long’ and ‘how established’ certain individuals have identified with a main stream religion.  I’m more interested in changed hearts who are on fire to serve.  I’m interested in courageous and changed people like Moses and David to lead a business, community, family, movement or nation.

We possess insights into the lives God selected to lead his nation.  In no way am I saying America is God’s chosen nation (spare me the e-mails).  However, I’m afraid Christians have become intense judges on historical character issues and tone deaf to the current condition of the heart in evaluating leaders for our own nation.  In my opinion, the majority of Christians have become blind to people with flawed histories/personality traits He has used in the past to lead people.

Christians look in all the wrong places for information (media, friends, polls, etc).  Christian tend to be baited by the smooth talkers, the popular, the praised, and those that have their images crafted in the media. Christians rarely look at the person persecuted to live in peace with the former enemy, or attacked by the ruling party/institutions, or a person who needs help in public speaking to be the potential leader of people.

His ways are not our ways.  Christians need to relearn this lesson from their spiritual heritage.

At the end of the day, I’m thankful he is in control.  We should remember to not lean our own understanding and acknowledge him in ALL our ways.  We may just find a historical flawed leader that has the selection of God to lead history and develop his people (Who may or may not follow God).  I’m afraid the world will continue to overlook leaders the world is not worthy of as the book of Hebrews guides us in today’s “Religious” climate.

Today, America is a Republic and not a Theocracy.  However, we do have a Constitutional role to ‘Ensure the BLESSINGS of Liberty for Ourselves and Our Posterity’.   Our own ways have led to $19 trillion in debt, a culture that breeds a dysfunctional family unit that is destroying “Domestic (Latin for Home) Tranquility”, and a state of national security that has rarely seen this level of instability.  Yet, many believe Liberty is a blessing we give ourselves or have decided to scrap Constitutional Liberty altogether.

It is time to review the definition of blessings, understand our Constitutional charge for the next generation, and consider that imperfect people in historical conduct or speech maybe worthy leaders of a movement for God’s Ordained Institution (Government) to govern (this doesn’t always equate to “feel good” progress) his people. Repentant, restored, and obedient hearts remain a key ingredient.

The questions for those who still believe this is “One Nation Under God” are plentiful.  Are we clamoring for our old life, content with wandering in this desert, or brave enough to seek the Promised Land with the obvious appearance of tough obstacles?  Are we willing to evaluate our heart/obedience levels and seek God? Are we brave enough to abandon the majority of “Good” people in the public square motivated with fear by the appearance of danger in the ‘Promised Land’ or consumed with the lure of existing wealth on the safe side of the river?

I think those professing that this is “One Nation Under God” need to reevaluate their ways of identifying leaders, and what heart desires/fears they are exercising in their vote.  There is nothing new under the sun. Clearly His ways are not our ways.  That is guidance worth listening to.

I pray we have the discernment to elect leaders as God identifies them. This can be a difficult task.  As a word of advice, I think we need to walk away from noise and pray in silence.  I pray we can exercise courage in our votes despite the lures/fears/obstacles in front of us.  Finally, I pray we have the perseverance to see our own “Promised Land” with our children. We will have to live/fight through some major battles to give our children the heritage they are deserving of.  It is time we Constitutionally answer the call to ensure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.  Our forefathers taught us how to fight the odds and win.
