Independent of Party

Philosophy #1:

Our local candidates are fine, their national parties are not.  Party positions and power are trumping local candidate positions and votes. Party politics inhibit progress in this country. Parties need a formal rejection from the electorate. It’s time for courage at the ballot box. It’s time to reject a party system that fails the majority of us the majority of the time.

Teddy Roosevelt (26th President of the United States) describes the conditions of 2014 in his 1912 quote:

“The bosses of the Democratic party and the bosses of the Republican party alike have a closer grip than ever before on the party machines in the States and in the Nation. This crooked control of both the old parties by the beneficiaries of political and business privilege renders it hopeless to expect any far-reaching and fundamental service from either.”

Additionally, founders of our great nation warned us against the Party system.  I believe America needs a reawakening to their guidance in the Constitution and their wisdom against adopting a party system.

“There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.”

– John Adams (2nd President of the United States)

“Much indeed to be regretted, party disputes are now carried to such a length, and truth is so enveloped in mist and false representation, that it is extremely difficult to know through what channel to seek it. This difficulty to one, who is of no party, and whose sole wish is to pursue with undeviating steps a path which would lead this country to respectability, wealth, and happiness, is exceedingly to be lamented. But such, for wise purposes, it is presumed, is the turbulence of human passions in party disputes, when victory more than truth is the palm contended for.”

– George Washington (1st President of the United States)

Note the warnings regarding party control we have from the greatest historical leaders of our country:

  • Crooked control to the beneficiaries of political and business privilege.

  • The greatest political evil under our constitution.

  • Victory more than truth.

The people of America can not afford to ignore the consequences of their vote.  We are failing to learn from our history (both short-term and long-term).  We must hold these parties responsible for this malfunctioning system.  We must return our allegiance to America – not a party – and take back our Government from representatives who continually fail to execute their promises made to the people during the campaign season.  The never ending support of the party by candidates who desire more influence and importance hurts our system.

Both parties have failed to cut spending with both having periods of dominant control. Both have protected their interests through the budget at the expense of the Common Good. Consequently, America has not had a reduction in Federal outlays since 1965!

Candidates can argue less spending but it would be better if we took away the keys.  The Constitution calls for the coining of money to Congress.  Delegating the creation of money to the Fed and thus the banks (through Reserve Ratios) was unconstitutional. According to Wikipedia the purchasing power of the dollar from 1792 was equal to 1910.  Capitalism was built on the back of people’s money and labor and not Wall Street Banks who create money out of thin air by lending an additional $33 on the back of $1.  This creation of money by reserve ratios and not hard work is the cause of the destruction of our dollar.

Capitalism thrived before the Federal Reserve and I would argue industry created from the end of the Civil War to the start of Federal Reserve was better than any other era.  However, once the banks were able to print money by controlling the Federal Reserve they had control of the economy (Americans should revolt on Central control of anything).  The control of the system of credit made $1 in 1910 is now worth 5 cents today.  Per their charter they are supposed to be controlling inflation!!!

This destruction of purchasing power created by inflation of money has created unaffordability of basic needs for our poor and now our middle class that remains.  This is a tragedy.  Democrats want to “Redistribute” and create more dependency.  Republicans want to stay in power by using the money of their biggest backer – “Big Banks” on Wall Street.  We need to focus on creating more jobs in America and quit eroding the purchasing power of basic necessties to aid our working poor.  This creates a complete approach that is not advocated for either side as one is sponsored by Big Banks and the other side believes in redistribution.

Businesses have sought cheap capital from Wall Street and not the people.  Capitalists are still doing well but Wall Street and not the people (the traditional backing of Pre 1913 companies) are rising with new business.  Labor not rising with business is causing class divide and endangering our “Domestic Tranquility”.  Finally, this printing of money and working directly with the Fed (as opposed to Congress) has enabled Presidents of both parties to pursue unlimited spending on welfare or warfare goals.  When there are no counterweights to overspending (commodity backing of dollars, Congressional approval to print more money for Presidential plans, etc.), the ambitions of one leader can derail a nation.  Congress must take back their duty of printing money per the Constitution to limit unbridled ambition of the President.  Unending wars for Republicans (Read the Constitution on limiting standing army creation for 2 years) and endless societal welfare for Democrats (Promote not Provide the General Welfare) need to be controlled by limits on the purse.

Thomas Jefferson said the greatest threat to our liberties are banking institutions and not standing armies.  Big Government and Banking Cartels are both dangerous to our liberties.  This is why sole arguments on Big Government do not solve the root problem of growing our liberties.  Of course this is the most convenient argument when you are meeting with Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan (founder of the fed) for money to become elected.

Congress regaining control of the money is a Constitutional paramount first step to regaining control of the purse.  As a final point, the only thing worse than a Federal Reserve is an International Reserve which is in rapid motion (they bailed out the Ukraine with the International Reserve).  As a caveat it may take preserving a corrupt and harmful institution like the Federal Reserve to defeat a more corrupt institution – an International Reserve system.

Back to spending, the current administration has taken spending to a new level and worse yet their violations of the Constitution through “Executive Orders” maybe more damaging as the Constitution is being eroded as we speak.  The failure of the corresponding party to “check” because they want the same rights in the next administration maybe worse.

I will work to reestablish our Senate as an institution of strength while observing the limits of Congress called for in our founding documents.  Furthermore, we will make it a priority to oversee the checks and balances designed by the Constitution to limit both the Judicial and Executive Branches assumptions of duties or rights that belong to the People, the States, or the Congressional Branch–IN THAT ORDER.

We are non partisan and we will work hard to end this political civil war and move Washington back to a place of problem solving and away from partisan bickering for power.  Bipartisan talk is just that–talk.  We need true non partisans to lead bipartisan compromise.  We are prepared to broker compromises where both sides do not feel like winners or losers.  Compromise is going to be a key tool to move this country forward as long as compromise doesn’t jeopardize the Constitution or a moral code.

I’m proud to be Independent so I’m not distracted for 3 of the 6 years playing the game for more power, participating in party fund raising dinners, wasting hours upon hours to meet with non Nebraskan donors on what they need done.  I look forward to serving and working hard for Nebraskans–nothing more and nothing less.

We cannot afford Government to fail any longer in it’s core roles as called for by our Constitution.  This failure to act like civilized adults is reason enough to throw everyone out of office.  The example they are setting to our children needs to stop.

I will fight for true American principles not represented by socialism or special interest. We need to reestablish a system that has produced the greatest societal advancements in history by:

  • Performing the duties of Government as called for by the Constitution

  • Protecting the liberty of our citizens from Government and special interest abuse

  • Insuring our markets remain free from both socialism and special interest manipulation.

Join me in the Independent movement and be on the record of historical justice.  “We the people” is placed in greater danger by both these parties who believe in we the money or we the government. Both parties have forgotten to “Promote the General Welfare” of its citizens as called for in The Preamble of The Constitution.  Let’s return our Government back to “We” the people.
